Breakfast Seminar - CoreValve, How European Market development created company valuation?

CoreValve has been a transatlantic med-tech venture . The innovation came from France, the company was established in the US, the initial development was done in the Europe, and then finally was acquired by a US company. In this breakfast seminar we will have the opportunity to hear from one of the European Investors and Board Members, Johan Christenson, about the ownership perspectives of why and how CoreValve developed the market in Europe. This will be followed by an update about the current reimbursement/market access perspectives of TAVI presented by Patrik Hidefjäll from Synergus

In conclusion Johan Christenson will lead a discussion, including a Q&A session, on how to build value in MedTech companies through a European execution strategy

Bios:
Johan Christenson
Partner of HealthCap. Prior to joining Odlander Fredrikson in 2001 Dr Christenson was with SEB Företagsinvest (the venture capital arm of SEB) to supervise the health care portfolio. He has senior management experience from Astra Pain Control as Project director and AstraZeneca as Global Product Director and member of the global therapy area management team of Pain & Inflammation. He received his medical training at the Karolinska Institute and published his thesis in 1991 rendering him a Ph.D. in basic neuroscience. He served as a lecturer in neuroscience and is the author of 17 scientific articles. He held a position as assistant dean at the Karolinska Institute Graduate school for two years. Dr Christenson has four years of clinical specialist training in pediatrics and pediatric neurology.

Patrik Hidefjäll
Patrik has more than 15 years experience in Sales, Marketing, Strategy development and Business planning in the Med-tech industry with a special focus on the drivers behind market development and how to identify and influence critical success factors in practice. He has hands-on experience leading strategy development and business planning projects at corporate level at large (Biotronik) and small MedTech companies (Gothia Medical, Mentice, Ortivus). His experience includes: Development of Endovascular Simulator Training Curricula and Requirements (Mentice), Development of Marketing and Sales Material and Guidelines (Gothia Medical), hands on experience of successfully selling medical devices and medical IT equipment in Germany and Sweden. Patrik published his PhD thesis "The Pace of Innovation” about management of innovation in the cardiac pacemaker and ICD industry in 1997 and has published further articles on medical devices innovation.

Mattias Kyhlstedt
Founder and CEO of Synergus AB and Synergus Corp. Mattias has 15 years of experience in reimbursement, quality & regulatory in the medical device industry. He has unique management knowledge and insights within medical device companies based on previous positions within business development, production, quality, logistics and R&D in global corporations as well as start-ups. One of Europe’s most experienced consultants within pan-European reimbursement strategies and a frequent speaker at various international conferences in the area of reimbursement, quality, regulatory and clinical trials.
