Risk management has developed into central activity in development of medical devices. It is an integral part of many procedures such as electrical safety, biocompatibility not forgetting the main risk management procedure.
Once a marginal activity, mostly done towards the product development, it is now becoming a important activity throughout the lifecycle of a product. From being a self-contained exercise just a few years risk management is on its way of being a highly integrated function in product development. The focal point in this work is the understanding of the risk management standard ISO 14971.
