In this talk,
Mr Verhasselt, will provide his insights into the factors conditioning successful reimbursement. He will share from his hands-on experience of successfully establishing funding & reimbursement with premium pricing and/or adequate DRG coverage for several products in Belgium, France, The Netherlands and Switzerland. The focus will be on the requirements for evidence, but more importantly about the process of influencing the right people to support the reimbursement.

Michel Verhasselt
Michel Verhasselt is a strong knowledgeable professional in the field of health economics, HTA, DRG coding and reimbursement with over 20 years experience gained from working at both international and local level for the medical device industry, healthcare providers and insurance companies. He brought his expertise to reknown companies like Johnson&Johnson, Baxter, Linde, Allianz / Mondial Assistance and Edwards Lifesciences.
He has successfully managed funding & reimbursement of breakthrough innovations like the Transcatheter Aortic Valve (TAVI) in France, Benelux and Switzerland obtaining premium pricing and adequate DRG coverage. He developed market access expertise in various therapy areas: renal products, medical gas (Oxygene, INO, anaesthesia, wound healing, pain), respiratory including asthma and COPD, interventional cardiology, critical care diagnostic devices, vascular and cardiac implants.
He has an M.B.A in Business Management and Healthcare Economics at Lille Catholic University in France.
Richard Murrugarra-Centurion, MSc
Richard is currently Health Economics and Reimbursement Specialist for various European markets at Synergus Corporation with special focus on The Netherlands and Spain. He has a well-built experience in supporting medical device manufacturers to evaluate their current reimbursement situation, develop a right value proposition and implement key strategies to effectively identify specific funding pathways. His main specialty is to help Medical device companies to achieve both clinical and payer endorsement for the establishment of a long term sustainable reimbursement of their devices. Combining his analytical and networking skills has led to the creation of a valuable network with Key Opinion Leaders and reimbursement decision makers in these countries both at a national and regional level.
Mr. Murrugarra-Centurion holds an MSc degree in Health Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam in The Netherlands, a leading research centre for health economics research in Europe. During his master program he took a second MSc specialization in Finance and Accounting.
